This design cuffs to the desired length if needed to take the guess work out of the newborns size. When cuffing the cocoon it can provide even more insulation and warmth.

The Ultra Soft Mariposa Organic Cotton Yarn inspired us to create this beautiful Rasta Bump Baby Cocoon available in 6 color ways pictured and listed left to right in the hat grouping and color option list above. The Rasta baby hat is available and sold separately in the kits & patterns section of the website.

This is a very easy & fun knitting project. The Mariposa is worked on a #10 needle. The pattern is NOT worked in the round due to the seam and bottom detail.

The New Pakucho Andean Mist Colors come in many Beautiful & Colorfast Botanically Dyed Colors in Hand Brushed Long Staple Organic Pima Cotton Flamme.

All Vegan color options are marked with **. Due to the use of cochineal, especially in the pinks and purple, it makes a percentage of the colors non-Vegan.

Botanical Information

Not only is this kit organic BUT the pattern is printed on 100% Post Consumer Waste Paper & Hemp. The packaging is 100% Biodegradable & Sustainable Clear Cellulose. Absolutely no plastic! It is the perfect eco knitting kit.

Also included in this kit is an eco hemp fiber gift tag adorned with a hand spun hemp cord & recycled glass & tagua beads.

When dried in a machine there can be a one time 10-15% shrinkage in length. Kits sometimes have yarn left over so that you have the option to lengthen the cocoon if you prefer. To avoid shrinkage wash in cool water, gentle soap, on the gentle cycle setting, in a lingerie bag and lay out to dry.

Knitting Needles are optional. The needle size used are #10 for the average knitter. See the Bamboo Knitting Needles page. The Crystal palace bamboo needles work like a dream with the organic cotton yarn.
